What is the Alexandra Bonds and Joseph Gilg International Travel award?The award provides support to undergraduate and graduate students enrolled as majors or minors in the Department of Theatre Arts at the University of Oregon to attend international exhibitions, festivals, performances, and conferences, such as the Prague Quadrennial and World Stage Design, but not limited to these. Uses may include covering all or a portion of the costs for students’ international travel, overnight accommodation, and meals while attending professional theatre events, exhibitions, and festivals. Award may also be used to cover performance tickets, workshop fees, and other costs related to students’ direct engagement with international theatre-related events. Preference will be given to students specializing in design, technology, and/or directing.

This year, the award will help fund travel costs to the 2023 Prague Quadrennial. Awards will range between $750 and $1500.

  • Confirm Theatre Arts Major/Minor/Graduate Student status
  • Required GPA as of Fall 2022- 3.5
  • Write a 2 pages essay explaining your motivation for attending the 2023 Prague Quadrennial.

Two Page Essay Requirements

–Statement about motivation. Refer to the Prague Quadrennial website and descriptions of workshops/production/events from previous PQs. What would you like to experience at the PQ this year?

–Explain how this trip will enhance your future goals.

–Highlight your recent involvement with TA (courses, productions and other events)

–Speak briefly about your national and/or international travel experience

–Financial statement: Please state that you will have international health insurance and that you have funds to cover additional costs while travelling.
