Latinx Heritage Month: Black Latina the Play

Friday, October 19 at 7:30pm

Miller Theatre Complex, Hope Theater
1231 University Street, Eugene, OR 97403

Presented by the Latinx Strategies Group, the Black Strategies Group, and the Dept. of Theatre Arts:

Black Latina the Play by Crystal Roman is the journey of one woman’s struggle to identify with two heritages, two cultures: Afrodescendent and Latinx. Tackling external factors (such as society and the media) and internal factors (such as the opinions of family and friends) Black Latina the Play shares a first-hand look at the experiences and emotions of people who are constantly overlooked. Black Latina the Play goes beyond the “traditional” black/white ideas of racism in the US to exposes the complex internalized racisms found among African Americans, Hispanics, and Black Latinx.
